10 Gaming DLCs That Surprised Everyone
10. Blood And Wine - The Witcher 3
Kicking off with an auto-include here, but for good reason. Not only did Blood and Wine cap off Geralt’s sprawling adventures in a satisfying way, it did so in a huge piece of content comparable to the great RPG expansions of old, like Baldur’s Gate II: Throne of Bhaal. The gorgeous vineyards and palaces of Toussaint are more than just another location for Geralt to shake down for Alchohest coin - they’re a love letter to fans, and a celebration of everything that came before.
With so many ways the base game could have ended, CD Projekt had their work cut out providing satisfying conclusions for every type of player, and still smashed it. There are plenty of send ups to join the send offs, too. The writing adopts a more self-satirical tone, referencing everything from Monkey Island to RPG cliches to the many bugs involving Geralt’s faithful steed Roach.
The excellent Hearts of Stone DLC may have featured an actual party, but Blood and Wine deserves its status as a legendary after party.
