While not the most substantial expansion compared to some of the others on this list, Breath of the Wild’s Champions' Ballad earns its place as a truly surprising DLC for the very simple reason that it looked at Breath of the Wild, and said: but what if - and hear me out - we give Link a motorcycle?

So much of the fun in Breath of the Wild comes from how satisfying Hyrule is to traverse - whether by steed, foot, or hang glider - and adding a motorcycle into the mix was the next logical step. Actually, scratch that, it was a completely illogical step that, in retrospect, makes perfect sense.

Breath of the Wild’s Hyrule is filled with ancient technology, so adding a motorcycle managed to even feel like it belonged in the world. Just don’t show Epona; obsolescence is a b*tch.
