10 Gaming DLCs That Surprised Everyone
8. The Prophet And The Warlock - Total War: Warhammer II
When Total War: Warhammer II added the Skaven ratmen as a playable launch faction, it missed out a huge chunk of their roster. Namely, the warpstone gatling gun firing, nuke-dropping science rats of Clan Skyre. After The Prophet and The Warlock DLC added rat Rick Sanchez Ikit Claw and his workshop of scientific abominations, it was easy to see why Clan Skyre had taken so long. Balancing a faction that routinely brings sniper rifles to a sword fight is, predictably, not the easiest job.
Clan Skyre were deliciously broken on launch, especially in campaign mode. They’ve been through numerous balance adjustments since, but they still stand out as having some of the most off-the-wall units and strategies available.
One overpowered faction means every other faction has to be balanced too, and the Prophet and the Warlock sent Total War: Warhammer II into a DLC arms race it never quite recovered from. It’s been a fun ride, though.
