10 Gaming Franchises That Deserve To Be Revived
7. Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong’s debut arcade game of the same name back in 1981 was an instant success and helped make him one of the most recognisable video game characters in existence.
This success helped start the Donkey Kong franchise that would generate many new games in the 1990’s and early 2000’s across multiple gaming platforms and make Donkey Kong another iconic mascot of Nintendo.
But despite Donkey Kong predating franchises like Super Mario Bros, Legend Of Zelda and Metroid, the last standalone Donkey Kong game was back in 2014 with Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. And even though there have been new games released and announced in the Mario, Zelda and Metroid franchises, there has been so far no news from Nintendo about a new Donkey Kong game.
Nowadays, fans have only been able to see Donkey Kong in various Nintendo crossover games, such as Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart and various Mario party games. But it could be argued that now is the perfect time to make a new Donkey Kong game, as it could add another great game to the Nintendo Switch lineup while also reuniting fans with Donkey Kong and the rest of the DK Crew.
