10 Gaming Franchises That Desperately NEED A New Game
1. Banjo-Kazooie
This iconic platformer series that was popular during the Nintendo 64 era was presumed dead after the disappointing release of Nuts & Bolts in 2008. These fears were only furthered by Rare's multi-year pivot to exclusively developing Kinect titles.
In recent years, things have gotten more hopeful. Rare returned to developing normal video games in 2018 with Sea of Thieves, a full decade after the release of Nuts & Bolts. This doesn't appear to be an outlier either, with Rare working on Battletoads and developing a new IP called Everwild. If Rare is developing traditional games again, why can't they develop a new Banjo-Kazooie?
Banjo and Kazooie remained iconic characters throughout their absence from gaming, which paid off when they finally reemerged in 2019. They were featured prominently in the DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, to fans' delight.
Microsoft is preparing for their next console, and they'll need exciting exclusives. The lack of worthwhile exclusive titles has been the largest complaint against the Xbox One in recent years, and it would be smart to make it a point to show this generation won't be the same. Bringing back a fan favorite series would be a brilliant way to do so.
