10 Gaming Franchises That Desperately NEED A New Game
2. Splinter Cell
Splinter Cell is one of the most iconic series in Ubisoft's library, but their recent output would have you believe otherwise. There hasn't been an actual game released in the series since 2013's Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
Fans haven't given up hope, though. Every time there's a big event that Ubisoft is attending, like E3 or The Game Awards, people begin hyping themselves up for an announcement of the series' return.
While he hasn't gotten his own game in quite a long time, Sam Fisher, the series protagonist, has made appearances in other titles. Michael Ironside made his return to the role for Sam's appearance in the DLC for Ghost Recon: Wildlands, an installment in another Tom Clancy game series. Fisher also appears in the upcoming mobile game Tom Clancy's Elite Squad, a crossover with other series such as Ghost Recon, The Division, and Rainbow Six.
If Splinter Cell was to return, it would be a refreshing change from the usual Ubisoft output. After poor performance from games like Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, perhaps Ubisoft will realize the value in turning back to this important series in their history and reintroduce a character fans have been waiting to see more from.
