10 Gaming Franchises That Desperately Need A Reboot
5. Silent Hill
With Silent Hills still leaving fans with tears in their eyes, that doesn't mean that the series deserves to be lost and forgotten. If anything, the dropped project should prove that these games still have new levels to reach for. With perfectly calculated scares, audio and visuals, most would agree that the playable teaser, or P.T, was terrifying.
Silent Hill was a pioneer in the survival-horror genre.
Instead of putting the player at the helm of a soldier or competent survivalist like Resident Evil, you were controlling an "everyman" - someone who has never seen combat, use a melee weapon and probably never shot a gun before. This helped amplify the scare factor because it felt like a simulation of how you would handle a similar situation.
However, after the less-impressive Homecoming and Downpour, the franchise started to lose its momentum. After Silent Hills was cancelled in 2015, there has been hope but no word on a future installment.
Obviously I would love for Silent Hills' production to continue, but if we had a game that mimicked the style, we'd probably be plenty satisfied.
