10 Gaming Myths You Won't Believe People Actually Buy Into

4. Catch Mew In Pokemon Red/Blue

Pokemon-43-600x300 Intro Like the Grand Theft Auto series Pokemon is a game that's riddled with myths, but the most prominent was the Mew hoax. Fans were adamant that the 151st Pokemon was hidden somewhere on Red and Blue carts €“ specifically under the S.S. Anne Truck. This truck could be found if you used Surf at the S.S. Anne dock in Vermillion city and veered right. Apparently, if you used Strength on the truck you would move it to reveal Mew encased in a pokeball. Some people say that for this to work you need to have caught all 150 Pokemon and need six of them with Strength, or that Mew can only be discovered on the Japanese version. Sadly, neither of these were true, but that didn't stop us from spending hours trying to shift that truck. Mew could be obtained through Nintendo-hosted events or through a glitch obtained through a convoluted process.
