10 Gaming Plot Twists That Blew Our Minds

6. Master Miller Is Liquid Snake - Metal Gear Solid

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=xucr6uBGxFY Given how densely-plotted the Metal Gear Solid games are, it's not much of a surprise that they take up quite a few spots on this list, the first of which occurs during the first MGS on the PSOne. As you trek through Shadow Moses to try and shut down the giant nuclear war-machine Metal Gear Rex, you're aided by a support team, including Master Miller, an old comrade who is pretty badass, somewhat resembling Duke Nukem. When you get the key to deactivate Rex, however, it turns out that the key activates Rex, and Miller promptly speaks to Snake on the codec to thank him for doing his bidding. Just then, the Colonel interrupts the call to tell Snake that the real Master Miller was found dead in his home, and the person you've been speaking to is...Liquid Snake himself, the game's big bad. Liquid removes his shades, lets his hair down and reverts to his villainous British accent, making for one of gaming's most shocking moments. It's great because when you re-play the game, it forces you to re-examine every dialogue with Miller, and will probably have you calling him on the codec a lot more frequently just to see what other hints the game fields out.
