The PlayStation 3 didn't have the easiest start in life. It was overpriced, lacking in features the Xbox 360 had and they took the rumble out of the controller. To make it worse, multi platform games ended up looking and performing worse on PS3, despite it being the more powerful console.

It was up to Sony's army of first and second party developers to really show off what the PS3 could do. Alongside old favourites like Ratchet & Clank, we saw solid new IPs like Uncharted, Resistance and LittleBigPlanet.

And then there were games like Heavenly Sword, Folklore and Lair. All three games boasted use of the new SixAxis controls and had cool concepts like divine weaponry, capturing Irish mythological creatures and riding a freakin' dragon.

Of all these, Heavenly Sword was the most hyped. Andy 'Gollum' Serkis was heavily involved in writing, acting and directing and the game looked stunning. Sadly, all three underperformed and faded from memory (let's be honest, you didn't even remember these games until I told you).

Luckily the PS3 turned things around, and we got amazing franchises like inFamous, Demon's Souls and a little game called The Last of Us.
