10 Gaming Things You Did Very Differently In 2007
7. All 'Mobile Gaming' Was Done On A Nintendo DS
Yup, it's Nintendo and those filthy casuals again. The smartphone revolution hadn't really begun in 2007 despite the first iPhone launch. Most of us were still using Nokia bricks or those weird flip phones that could only display three letters on the screen at a time.
But Nintendo proved they were ahead of the curve with the DS, getting people gaming on the go before Candy Crush was even a thing. You couldn't get on a train in 2007 without seeing someone dropping their stylus or shouting "red... red, for God's sake, I said RED!"
Like Guitar Hero, Brain Training (or Brain Age) began before 2007, but this was the year that Nintendo ramped it up. We got a sequel and TV adverts that featured British national treasures like Julie Walters, Sir Patrick Stewart and... Ronan Keating. I can't imagine Ronan got paid as much as Beyoncé did in 2008.
Along with the PlayStation 2, the DS is the only system to sell over 150 million units - which makes even the Wii look rubbish in comparison. Although the 3DS has done respectable numbers, Nintendo would kill for it to sell as well as its predecessor.
Of course, they aren't the only ones...
