10 Gaming Villains We Were Emotionally-Invested In Defeating

2. Seymour (Final Fantasy X)

Final Fantasy has a great track record when it comes to despicable villains; Sephiroth, Kefka and Seifer could all very easily have made this list. Lord Seymour trumps them all though with a slimy personality that makes us dislike him from the moment he's introduced. His first act as a Maester of Spira (a leader of the main religion in Spira; Yevon) is to unleash a group of monsters on the crowd of a Blitzball match so he can defeat them and look all heroic. What a guy. As the story progresses, you learn that Seymour kills his own father to establish himself as a leader and his ultimate plan is to become the monstrous Sin himself so he can destroy all life on Spira. He also dies and becomes an Unsent (basically, a zombie) later on which just adds to his evil status, but that's not before forcing main love interest Yuna to marry him, making him an enemy of your true love too. Is there any level this guy won't stoop to? Luckily, the group breaks up the wedding and later, after many encounters, defeats Seymour to end his nihilistic plans. Good riddance.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
