10 Gaming Villains We Were Emotionally-Invested In Defeating
3. Handsome Jack (Borderlands 2)
The ridiculously over-the-top world of Borderlands needs an equally ridiculous and over-the-top villain to serve as the antagonist enter Handsome Jack. Unlike the majority of villains on this list, Handsome Jack is actually a popular character; his constant chatter to the Vault Hunters is pretty funny and he regularly parodies villainous stereotypes to great effect. He's also a thoroughly nasty piece of work. Unhinged and psychotic, he traps his daughter Angel in an interface and dictates the events of the first Borderlands through her. He then uses her to betray the new Vault Hunters in Borderlands 2, nearly destroying Sanctuary in the process. With his first physical appearance in the game, he kills the Vault Hunters' leader Roland before enslaving Lilith to replace the newly released Angel. Plus, he has someone else's face crudely stapled to his own; if that doesn't scream psychotic villain, what else does? So despite being a hilarious character whose voice we love hearing, Jack's crazed nature eventually crosses a line and we suddenly become more interested in his demise. He drops his mask upon defeat though, allowing your Vault Hunter to become a living tribute to Handsome Jack. Let's keep the evil enslaving to a minimum though.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
