10 Gods We Need To See In SMITE In 2021
1. Jesus
Pantheon:
Christianity
Jesus, also known as Jesus Christ, is the son of God in Christianity. He prominently featured in the New Testament of the Bible, which recounts the events of his life. Jesus has been highly requested to appear in SMITE since the inception of the game, however the developers have thus far steered clear of him. This is assumed to be due to avoiding an anticipated controversy with current day Christians who believe in Jesus.
The events of Jesus’ life are some of the best known stories of the bible. Some of the key events are the birth of Jesus, known as the ‘Immaculate Conception’, the Crucifixion of Jesus and then his subsequent return from the dead. As well as this, Jesus is known for performing a variety of miracles, such as walking on water, calming a storm, the feeding of the 5,000 and the raising of Lazarus. These events are just some details from the bible that could be used to adapt a moveset for Jesus in SMITE.
Hi-Rez Studios have mostly avoided using gods that are still
currently being worshipped or believed in, with one major exception. Hinduism
is practiced worldwide by approximately fifteen percent of the world’s
population. There has never been any issue with the use of a variety of Hindu
gods, such as Ganesha and Kali. Jesus himself appeared in the 2017 game Fight
of Gods, a fighting game feature a wide variety of different gods, similarly to
SMITE. While the game was banned in
Malaysia and Singapore for its religious content, Fight of Gods has mostly used
the character of Jesus without controversy.
