10 Great Video Game Sequels NOBODY Asked For

7. Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom

Final Fantasy Xiii Lightning
Level-5

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch released in 2011 in Japan but made its way over to the west in 2013. Developed by Level 5 and published by Bandai Namco, it told the story of Oliver, an unassuming boy with a love for motoring and adventure. Tragedy strikes early on in his story, and Oliver's grief has him venture to another world.

The landscape of Ni No Kuni is simply magnificent, wielding a fantasy-inspired world that has its fair share of dangers as well as moments of genuine beauty.

A sequel arrived in early 2018, taking place hundreds of years after the first game, but enough of Wrath of the White Witch's footprint was left to make its sequel yet another hit.

Focusing its story on Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum, the tale the game told was charming, and a change in combat direction made it a more fluid experience overall.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is a stand-alone experience, and only seemed to capture a small but passionate fanbase in the west. It was a surprise when a sequel was greenlit, but Revenant Kingdom does enough different while honouring the past to forge a truly great game.
