10 Great Video Game Sequels NOBODY Asked For
4. New Super Mario Bros. U
Super Mario Bros is a franchise that isn't going anywhere. The character's foothold in the gaming industry is undeniable as Mario has been the poster child for the gaming medium since the mid-1980s.
From the near-perfect Super Mario World, to the revolutionary Super Mario 64 right up to Super Mario Odyssey, the franchise is never far away from a truly innovative experience.
However, such a storied history will naturally bring a few less-than-stellar releases. One series within the wider Mario franchise that many take issue with is the New Super Mario Bros collection; four games that attempt to rekindle the magic of 2D Mario games of old.
The fourth and final one is perhaps the best of all, taking all the best features from past games and bringing a game that is one of the few essential Wii U titles.
So few players asked for a fourth game in the New Super Mario series because the first three, while great, were all rather similar to each other. New Super Mario Bros. U is not drastically different to what came before, which is to its detriment, but it's a great game nonetheless, despite nobody really wishing it into existence.
