10 Great Video Game Sequels That STILL Killed Their Franchises

5. Prince Of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

After the disastrous (but severely underrated) 2008 reboot of Prince of Persia failed to take off, Ubisoft returned to focus on the same storyline of the original revered trilogy.

Set during the seven-year gap between The Sands of Time and Warrior Within, The Forgotten Sands attempted to bridge the two titles while at the same time taking the series back to its roots.

While it was a good decision from Ubi to refocus the franchise on what people wanted though, the game dropped at a time where nobody was really interested in PoP's brand of platforming anymore.

It wasn't just changing tastes that killed the title's chance to win back an audience though, as the game was already on the back foot because of how much the 2008 reboot soured the franchise for fans. Likewise, Assassin's Creed was taking off at the same time, completely overshadowing anything that The Forgotten Sands had to offer.
