10 Great Video Games That Are WAY Too Long
2. Persona 5
Persona 5 isn't just a great turn-based title but a cultural milestone that fuses deep gameplay, breathtaking art, and thought-provoking social commentary. JRPGs aren't for everyone, but P-Studios magnum opus is extremely accessible, allowing anyone to dive into its vibrant world.
However, finishing it is a different story altogether. Rather than taking 25-40 hours to compete like the average RPG, Persona 5's main campaign clocks in at 100+ hours. If you skip cut-scenes, ignore side-quests, and zoom through the avalanche of dialogue, you'll still have to put up with 80 hours of playtime.
The dungeon-crawling eventually grows tiresome, encouraging you to focus on the life-sim sections. However, this aspect inevitably falls into a predictable rhythm, so most players find themselves taking part in them to boost stats rather than enjoyment.
Also, players have several in-game days to complete each Palace (or dungeon). After defeating the Palace, you have to wait until the time-limit expires, which can tack on an hour or two per dungeon. Allowing players to skip to the next phase when the previous Palace is completed would've been an easy way to shorten the main campaign without compromising the story.
Despite the fact every gamer should experience Persona 5, it takes an eternity to win.
