10 Great Video Games That Are Way Too Short
7. What Remains Of Edith Finch - 2 Hours
What Remains of Edith Finch is a Rashomon-styled title, where our protagonist investigates the Finch home to learn the events that lead to their demise. By discovering key items, players can experience the final moments of each family member.
Each episode is told with such unique mechanics and designs, they could easily function as separate games in themselves. The Barbara Finch chapter plays out like a horror-themed comic book. While controlling the ten-year-old Molly Finch, her imagination runs wild, allowing players to wander the environment as a cat, a bird, a shark, and a sea monster. As Lewis Finch, the player gets to venture through a fantasy world he's manufactured to counter the tedium of his unfulfilling job.
Each vignette is teeming with so much beautify and originality, players would be happy to explore these memories for hours on end. Unfortunately, each section only lasts a matter of minutes. Based on Twinfinite, the whole experience wraps up in two hours.
Because What Remains of Edith Finch makes players to go through an emotional rollercoaster in such a succinct space of time, it would've been even more hard-hitting if each scenario was fleshed out a bit more.
