10 Great Video Games That Are Way Too Short

3. Katamari Damacy - 6 Hours

Nemesis Resident Evil 3
Namco

In Katamari Damacy, a space prince must roll objects into a ball until it's large enough to replace the missing stars in the sky. The Prince is only able to absorb tiny objects at first, but can swallow up cities and forests when his sphere reaches gargantuan size.

Katamari Damacy was always going to be a hard sell, due to its nutty premise. But like the katamari ball itself, the game snowballed over time, spawning many sequels and re-releases, including the recent remaster of the first two instalments, Reroll + Royal Reverie.

Because of the precise controls, quirky aesthetic, zany humour, and astoundingly addictive gameplay, Namco's sleeper hit could be considered borderline flawless. However, the whole thing suddenly stops after six hours, according to HowLongToBeat.

Not only is Katamari short, it doesn't give players much indication they're approaching the end. Players will complete what appears to be a random level, only to be alerted immediately after that the game is over.

The story mode can be finished in four or five hours, with the bonus challenges only extending the playthrough by another hour.

Well, it was fun while it lasted.
