10 Great Video Games Whose Later Levels Are Absolute Torture
3. Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock
It might seem odd to include a rhythm game on this list but Guitar Hero III's later levels (or songs) are the definition of torture. Even discounting Dragonforce's 'Through The Fire And The Flames' (it doesn't appear on the game's main setlist), the final set of songs on Expert difficulty is a true test of your fingers' durability.
'Raining Blood' is a short but sweet blast of metal mayhem with a truly terrifying solo, just the intro to Iron Maiden's 'The Number Of The Beast' will have your digits screaming in agony too, and Metallica's 'One' is the biggest test of your longevity in the game (the song clocks in at over seven minutes long).
Even after that, you have to take on the Devil in a boss battle to an aptly included speed metal version of 'The Devil Went Down To Georgia'; you don't even play the whole song and it's still insanely intense, particularly thanks to the game's battle system allowing your horned enemy to mess with your part of the song.
It's a suitable end to the game though; you'll feel like you've been through hell and back after this bout of fret-heavy torture.
