10 Greatest Ever Video Game DLC That Didn't Steal Your Money

2. Point Lookout - Fallout 3

Almost as if to compensate for the horse armour fiasco, Bethesda went on to release some excellent DLC for their subsequent RPGs. Fallout 3 and New Vegas had nine DLC expansions between them, and most of them offered intriguing new angles on the Fallout story. The accolade for best Fallout DLC has to go to Point Lookout, which dared take things beyond the urban, post-apocalyptic DC Wasteland and out into the spooky, swampy climes of Point Lookout. It was a refreshing change of scenery, which isn't something you normally say when visiting a murky swamp filled with inbred murderous hillbillies. There's a good several hours of questing to be had, and the cannibalistic cult you come up against provide some truly chilling moments. It's also fascinating to just wander around the swamp and visit its forlorn locations - each of which you'll find some grim story. An honourable nod here needs to go to New Vegas' Old World Blues DLC, which is a rich and entertaining nod to 50s sci-fi B-movies.
