Developer: Sony Release: 2005 Best Game: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas If you were only interested in gaming, then there was absolutely no reason to get the expensive PSX console - which is exactly why it was such a failure. One of the first consoles to truly offer an 'all-in-one' entertainment experience, the PSX featured a digital video recorder, non-linear video editing software and a hard-drive up to 250GB in size. The PSX cost the equivalent of up to $866 in Japan, with poor sales ensuring that the console was never released in the West. It did act as a precursor for many of the features seen in the next generation of consoles though, such as a built-in hard drive, focus on multimedia entertainment and the XrossMediaBar interface.
