Developer: Hudson Soft & NEC Release: 1987 Best Game: Bomberman '94 The TurboGrafx-16 had the unfortunate responsibility of attempting to beat the Nintendo Entertainment System, a task which proved impossible for Hudson Soft's 16-bit console. It wasn't a total bomb, with sales initially strong in Japan. Over in North America and Europe though, the TurboGrafx-16 was completely outsold by both Nintendo and Sega's offerings. Many of the arcade ports for the TurboGrafx-16 were highly faithful to the originals, making the console widely sought after by collectors. Unfortunately, the device wasn't very multiplayer friendly, requiring a special accessory to connect even one additional controller. Couch multiplayer was generating a high level of popularity at the time, and this oversight is frequently cited as a possible factor in the TurboGrafx-16's disappointing sales.
