10 Greatest Games Consoles You Never Played

4. Atari 5200

Developer: Atari Release: 1982 Best Game: Rescue on Fractalus! After the runaway success of the Atari 2600, the company was keen to bring some new hardware to the market. The result of this desire was the Atari 5200, designed to be higher-end console that could coexist with the 2600. Despite its impressive hardware, the 5200 shipped with some major issues. The biggest issue was in the controllers, which consisted of non-centring joysticks that gave players about as much control as waggling a mop in a bucket. There were some fantastic games released on the 5200, such as superior versions of Asteroids and Super Breakout, but the high price and poor controllers drove consumers away.
