10 Greatest Games Consoles You Never Played

3. Amstrad GX4000

Developer: Amstrad Release: 1990 Best Game: Burnin' Rubber Amstrad's only attempt at breaking into the console market, the GX4000 was originally conceived to be a competitor of the 16-bit Commodore Amiga and Atari ST. With a budget price of £99.99 and the great racing game Burnin' Rubber bundled with it, the GX4000 was a great deal for gamers. At least, it would have been had the console not spectacularly failed by selling only 15,000 units and having a tiny library of 27 games. The graphics weren't bad for the time, but the marketing was almost non-existent and consumer interest was low. The Sega Mega Drive, released only a few months after the GX4000, ensured Amstrad's console was a total disaster for the hardware company.
