10 Greatest Pokémon From Generation III

4. Metagross

metacross Steel/Psychic Beldum - Metang - METAGROSS Beldum becomes Metang at Level 20, Metang evolves into Metagross at Level 45 EFFECT: CLEAR BODY prevents any Pokémon with this effect from stat reductions Metagross is the first "psuedo-legendary" on this list. A psuedo-legendary is a "false legendary" Pokémon and the name is given to a Pokémon with incredible strength. Pseudo-legendary is a fan term used to refer to any Pokémon that has a three-stage evolution line, 1,250,000 experience at level 100, and a base stat total of exactly 600. Basically, a pseudo-legendary Pokémon is an extremely powerful one. They are also rare - there are currently only 6 pseudo-legendaries in existence and two of them come from Generation III - the others are Dragonite, Tyranitar, another Generation III Pokémon (discussed later), Garchomp and Hydreigon. Because of it's special nature, there is only one way to get yourself a Beldum without cheating or trading and that is off Steven, the League Champion of the Hoenn region, who will you give you a Level 5 Beldum when you visit his house in Mossdeep City - meaning you'll probably require the Exp. Share to level it up to help it reach the rest of your parties' standards. So, from that brief dissection of a pseudo-legendary we know that Metagross is in spectacular company and also one of the most powerful Pokémon ever to grace our tiny little Nintendo screens. Metagross' case does not end there though because the Pokémon League Champion has one - just in case you needed any further evidence as to how strong it really is. Being strong, Metagross obviously needs some special and ferocious moves to make it stand out. Even if you exclude the use of TM's Metagross still learns the following moves on Ruby and Sapphire: Metal Claw, Psychic, Meteor Mash and Hyper Beam. So, that's a very powerful, standard 4 move skill set, yes? Well if you include TM and HM's you could also teach your Metagross the following: Earthquake, Shadow Ball, Brick Break, Sludge Bomb, Aerial Ace (say whut?) and Strength. So, there's more than enough firepower to go with Metagross' badass image!
