4. Tyranitar
Dark/Rock Larvitar - Pupitar - TYRANITAR Larvitar becomes Pupitar at Level 30, Pupitar evolves into Tyranitar at Level 55 The first thing to note about Tyranitar is that it is a "pseudo-legendary" Pokémon, and in fact, it is one of only 6 currently in existence. A "pseudo-legendary" Pokémon is a "false-legendary" Pokémon. As defined by the Pokémon Wikipedia "Bulbapedia", "pseudo-legendary" is a term invented by fans to "refer to any Pokémon that has a three-stage evolution line, 1,250,000 experience at level 100, and a base stat total of exactly 600". All this means Tyranitar is immensely powerful, and it's in good company too - alongside Gold and Silver's only other psuedo-legendary; Dragonite. Tyranitar is by no means a quick Pokémon (Tyranitar is the slowest pseudo-legendary) but all its remaining stats make up for this flaw, especially it's HP, Attack and Defence. One of the coolest facts about Tyranitar is that once the move Sandstorm is used, Tyranitar has the highest Special Defence of any pseudo-legendary Pokémon - meaning it bests other pseudo-legendary Pokémon such as Dragonite, Salamence, Metagross, Garchomp and Hydreigon. This means teaching Tyranitar Sandstorm is essential to any trainer looking for a durable Pokémon. Other excellent moves associated with Tyranitar include Crunch, Earthquake and Hyper Beam as well TM's such as Dragonbreath, Dynamic Punch and Fire Blast. Tyranitar can also learn Surf which is kind of unusual for a Rock type Pokémon due to Rock's aversion to Water type moves - although fellow Rock type Rhydon can also learn Surf.
