7. Kage-Maru - Virtua Fighter
Kage-Maru is the tenth in a long line of ninjas bearing the same title and works secretly in the shadows of his own society - making him something of a ninja amongst ninjas.
He is on the hunt for the nefarious Syndicate in the Virtua Fighter games, swearing revenge against the organisation for killing his father while also searching for clues as to the location of his kidnapped mother.
A perfect ninja backstory if ever there was one and Kage-Maru more than lives up to the title. Not only does he manage to rescue his mother - who it was revealed had been turned into Dural - from the J6 organisation but he also managed to win the third world tournament thanks to his superior skills.
Though he would eventually wind up losing his mother once again after his attempts to cure her led to her becoming Dural once more, Kage continues to battle on in the world of Virtua Fighter and has been an ever-present since the very first game in the series way back in 1993.
Besides, how can you not love a ninja who is capable of jumping dozens of feet into the air to land directly onto the head of their opponent?
