10 Greatest Video Game Ninjas Of All Time

6. Goemon - Mystical Ninja

Many a ninja on this list endured harsh childhood training, but only Goemon went on fantastical adventures despite the fact that he still looked like he had never even come close to reaching puberty.

Goemon has starred in more video games than any other ninja on this list - crossing over to different genres with consummate ease in the process - and his popularity is such than in his native Japan he has also appeared in his own anime and manga series.

While many of Goemon's games never make it out of the land of the rising sun, many gamers will be familiar with the likes of The Legend of the Mystical Ninja on SNES or Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon on the N64. Those gamers will also know that the Goemon games are pretty damned hard, which only makes the feats of its titular hero all the more impressive.

Unfortunately, though he is still popular in Japan, Goemon hasn't put in an appearance in the western world for more than a decade and a half. Perhaps one day we will once again be ready for the exploits of this deceptively awesome ninja.
