Perhaps we can put it down to the long term effects of being one of the most celebrated film characters of all time and then instantly and spectacularly disintegrating into obscurity? We can only speculate what toll that can take on a man, but if Luke Skywalker's meteoric collapse from stardom was the precursor to the perfect lunacy of Mark Hamill's take on the Joker€ let's just say it might have been worth it. Twisted, sardonic, unhinged, Hamill has become the quintessential version of the bad guy with the eternal smile - perhaps not as fresh in our minds as Heath Ledger's magnificent portrayal, but every bit as dark and disconcerting.
