10 Gruesome Video Game Moments That Were Genuinely Hard To Watch

The new Wolfenstein games have had more than their fair share of violence, and one of the very worst scenes of Wolfenstein: The New Order came near the beginning of the game, when B.J. Blazkowicz and his friends were captured by the evil General Deathshead, who forced B.J. to choose which one of his fellow soldiers would die in the most hideous and horrible way.

Whoever you choose, the scene that follows is both gruesome and miserable as you watch one of the guys you'd grown attached to in the game's early stages brutally torn apart. First, he gets his eyes gouged by one of the super soldiers, and then he's strapped into a horrific machine that rips open his back and extracts his brain.

Players get a grisly reminder of their decision much later on, near the end of the game, as the brain is actually inserted into a robotic soldier that B.J. has to fight and destroy, but at least it gave him a chance to finally put his friend out of their misery.
