10 Gutsy Video Games That Tackle Polarising Subject Matter

5. This War Of Mine

Winner of the award for "Most Depressing Game of all Time", This War of Mine depicts war in a way that very few games have ever had the balls to do. After all why would anybody want to play as the poor souls hiding in their houses when they could be blasting people away just outside, conscience free.

But playing as the oppressed civilians for once opens up a whole new perspective and makes for one of the most engaging survival games on the market.

Sure, zombies are tough to deal with, and sure, other-wordly horrors will always be some of the scariest things to grace a monitor, but something about the reality of people and war that is presented here is too much to handle.

Playing through the game is no easy task as the player is constantly reminded that this sort of thing happens in real life war scenarios all of the time. People die, assault is rampant and regular, and suddenly making the decision to not steal from an old sick couple isn't so easy anymore.
