10 Hated Video Games That Are AWESOME Now
8. Driveclub
Sony have always had a killer app to take on Xbox's Forza series in Gran Turismo, so stakes weren't necessarily high when Driveclub was announced. The promise of photo-realistic visuals and precision control was nothing new to PlayStation owners, but gosh darn were Evolution Studios going to try.
And if that failed, there's motorbikes in it too! And VR!
Driveclub's focal point was its always-on gameplay, the literal club of the title: the social and competitive element that other racers lacked. Sadly, as is the way with a lot of live service games, Driveclub stalled hard on release.
It gets better though, as a committed playerbase did stick through the launch, bugs and all. At its peak, Driveclub hit 10.5 million players, which is nothing to turn your nose up at. Patches were rolled out, bugs were mostly nipped and when running, Driveclub is a beautiful and well crafted racer, on par with Gran Turismo and Forza.
Whilst the servers will be switched off from April onwards of 2020 - and the game has been delisted from the PS Store - the single player component is still available if you go physical.
You won't be able to race with your mates, but you can enjoy Driveclub as one of the best racers of the generation.
