Let’s be honest, very few things work out in the sunshine and rainbows way you wish they would in Soulsborne games and this tidbit is no exception.

You’ve got a couple of options when you come across the few NPCs in the world who are not terrifying monsters that want to kill you on sight. First off you can send them to Iosefka’s clinic which seems like a decent idea because the woman says she’ll take care of anyone you send to her. Well, spoiler alert, that is not what happens. Late in the game you break into the clinic and find out she’s been experimenting on the people you sent her and they’ve turned into creepy blue alien creatures. Okay, so, we’re not a big fan of the clinic.

Not to worry, you can also send non-violent NPCs to Oedon Chapel.

Which can’t possibly be worse, right? Well, that depends on whether you’d rather be experimented on or eaten I guess.

In the Forbidden Woods you’ll come across a suspicious beggar standing breathless above a pile of mauled bodies and eating one, so you probably can’t claim total ignorance here. He asks if you know any safe places and if you send him to Oedon Chapel he’ll gradually eat his way through the other survivors. With every boss you take out he’ll munch on another NPC until they’re all gone.

He’ll reward you with Beast Blood Pellets if you ask him what’s up and you can grab the dropped NPC items, but still, very grim.
