You were the Chosen One! You were meant to destroy other lightsaber games, not join them!

Oh, Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels, you came so close… Be honest, when you saw the first reveal of the Wii Remote long ago, in a Nintendo Presentation far, far away, the first thing you thought was “Lightsaber Game”, right? It’s okay, we all did.

This was supposed to be the game which finally delivered on the promise of true, 1:1 motion controlled lightsaber duelling and, to its credit, it came pretty close.

Based on the animated Clone Wars show, the game includes show’s voice cast and character assets, making for impressive presentation. Playing as Anakin, Obi-Wan, or Ahsoka in the main story, the focus of the game is on lightsaber combat using the Wii Remote, with supplemental Force powers mapped to the Nunchuk.

The combat is intuitive, with certain motions triggering combos, and certain conditions triggering mini game style events to break out of a 'saber lock, for example, but it’s just not quite what we wanted; not quite the game we were looking for.
