10 Hidden Playable Video Game Characters You Totally Missed

2. Lynn - Valkyria Chronicles

It's hard to describe Valkyria Chronicles to someone who hasn't played it. It's like a turn-based but also real-time hybrid tactics RPG cover-based shooter. Oh, and it looks like anime!

It features a huge cast of characters to recruit for your underdog squad, and rightfully so, as these squad members can die permanently. If they're KO'd and stay down for three turns, they're dead for good. They also all come with their own stats and hidden skills, and some were very obviously better than others.

So why would anyone use Karl, a middling engineer who has a tendency to not evade enemy attacks? He'd practically make the entire game one big escort mission.

Well, Lynn is why. Inexplicably married to Karl, Lynn is one of the best shocktroopers in the game. But to unlock her you have to use Karl - a lot - to unlock his "hidden potential," Head-Lit Deer, which grants him the, um, "ability" to freeze when shot at. Yes, even more often that he already did. Then, you have to let him be KO'd ( which shouldn't be hard).

Finally, upon winning the battle, Lynn will join your squad to keep her useless husband safe.
