10 Hidden PS3 Gems You Should Track Down
7. Castle Crashers (2010)
The PS3 may not qualify as retro yet, but Castle Crashers does, in the best possible ways. The Behemoth's downloadable indie hit is a throwback to classic beat-em-ups such as Double Dragon, decked in deliciously colourful, hand-drawn packaging.
Castle Crashers takes place in a cartoony medieval universe and follows four knights on a mission to rescue kidnapped princesses from an evil wizard. Along the way, they encounter all kinds of zany enemies, from a cyclops who just won't stay dead, to alien invaders that apparently landed in the wrong series.
The game flows beautifully and is brimming with plug-and-play multiplayer value (of both the online and local variety), but it's the rib-ticking humour that made Castle Crashers such a memorable experience the first time around.
And the rollicking fun didn't stop there. The Behemoth created something that oozed replayability, having stuffed the game with secrets and unlockables that no self-respecting player could stand to leave undiscovered.
