Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest may be one of the most beloved platformers on the Super Nintendo but it's also infamous for its game-crashing flaw. If Diddy picks up the barrel at the start of the Castle Krush stage, hurls it at the left wall at the same time the player tries and catch it, Diddy's animation will look like he's still carrying the barrel.

If you try and throw this non-existent container, you will suddenly disappear inside a Rambi barrel. When the capsule bursts open, it screws up the game's execution code, causing any number of bizarre glitches including stretching out characters, swapping objects in, or playing audio files of ape noises. Quite often, Diddy will be swapped out for an item or enemy that isn't meant to be in this level. If this occurs, there isn't enough memory to keep the sprites on the screen, which can wipe your save file or irreversibly break the game.

For some reason, this hilarious but terrifying glitch wasn't fixed when DKC2 was imported onto the Virtual Console for the Wii or the Wii U.
