10 Hit Video Games That Were Totally Critic-Proof

8. No Man's Sky

Hello Games

It may seem weird for No Man's Sky to be on a list about 'Hit video games', as most people look at the launch of the sci-fi game to be a failure.

Critically, it was a disappointment as many reviewers identified a host of problems with the much anticipated game.

Reviewers found the gameplay dull since No Man's Sky never really had an objective; collecting resources and creating better equipment didn't really lead to anything. The only real objective in the game was to get to the centre of the galaxy, which only opened up a new galaxy to explore that was not much different from the previous one.

Numerous bugs that were found on the release of the game were also pointed out in reviews.

No Man's Sky's pre-release hype led to the game's great sales despite the negative critical response. Steam reported that during 2016, No Man's Sky was one of the platform's top 12 highest grossing games.
