10 Hit Video Games That Were Totally Critic-Proof
6. 50 Cent: Bulletproof
Even prior to its release, 50 Cent: Bulletproof looked like a cash grab trying to take advantage of 50 Cent's popularity at the time.
The music and presentation of the game did receive some praise, but critics were not happy with the gameplay. Combat was seen as generic and the finicky aiming system in particular was criticised. Reviewers were also unhappy with the uninventive missions throughout the game.
It's clear how this game sold well, since it came out when 50 Cent was at the highest point in his career. Additionally, the inclusion of Eminem and Dr. Dre further increased the interest in the game.
50 Cent: Bulletproof sold over one million copies despite the reviews and even spawned a sequel, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand. The sequel received much more favourable reviews, but sales weren't nearly as good.
