10 Horror Video Game Sequels BETTER Than The Original

7. Resident Evil 2

The quality of this Resident Evil deserves so much credit, not only for improving upon its predecessor but ensuring an excellent shelf-life for the property.

While the first game took place in the iconic Spencer Mansion, this sequel evolved the setting and brought you to the heart of Racoon City. The mansion setting may have felt more restricting, and therefore tenser, but switching it up to a larger land made the wide-reaching impact of the T-Virus seem all the more impactful.

Resident Evil 2 improved upon its predecessor in many ways, and while it still slipped into pitfalls like clunky controls and poor voice acting, it managed to better them. The level designs were far more dynamic, and the influx of new enemies gave the players an entirely new threat to keep them freaked out, and the expanded lore of the series was enthralling.

It started to begin the new adrenaline-filled direction for the franchise and ultimately became the game that allowed Resi to remain relevant today.
