10 Hotly-Anticipated 2016 Video Games You Should Be Worried About
4. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Similar to Final Fantasy XV, Naughty Dog's final entry into the Uncharted series hasn't exactly been made under ideal conditions. With the original creative leads departing mid-way through development, leaving the two creators of The Last of Us (and long-time Uncharted contributors) to take the lead, it's essentially been a race against time to get this grand finale out the door. Remember, this game was originally announced in late 2013, with the title's then-director Amy Hennig not officially departing the company until the March of 2014. You have to assume that much of the game's assets and story had been completed by then, yet when the new directors took up shop they reportedly scrapped much of that already finalised work. While starting again with a dedication to a new vision rather than cobbling together the pieces that were left from the previous leads is going to make for a more cohesive story overall, the timeframe the developers have had to accomplish this in has been truly tight. It's probably the reason why the game has received two delays so far, which, while a regular number for any other studio, is quite the anomaly for a developer like Naughty Dog. While the game looks beautiful in the pre-release footage we've seen so far, Uncharted 4 has already had to backtrack on its aim of hitting 1080p gameplay at 60 frames-per-second, perhaps the first indication that the title might not hit the ambitious highs that the studio were initially aiming for.
