10 Hotly-Anticipated Video Games That Must Be At E3 2017

1. The Last Of Us Part II

The Last Of Us Part 2
Naughty Dog

I don't know about you, but I need further convincing The Last of Us 2 is even necessary. The original's ending is one of the most legendary and iconic, simply because it's so interpretational and open-ended - something tagging a sequel on kinda destroys.

That said, writers Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley were quick to tweet out a series of "Trust us, we got this"-type sentiments, and in honesty, they've more than earned the benefit of the doubt (these guys have been writing for Naughty Dog since Uncharted 2), though I can't be alone in wanting to see more.

Story-wise we're picking up the tale of Joel and Ellie a few years after the first game closed out. Ellie has grown to hate the Fireflies, seeing them as a manifestation of what the audience knows as Joel's lie i.e. that her DNA couldn't be used to synthesise a cure, which we know Joel made up so he could live with his now-surrogate daughter.

It's a very interesting way to take the story, and thanks to Joel and Ellie being so immaculately written, we're going to stick with them regardless. I just hope that like Red Dead Redemption 2 also revisiting its characters after a defined and beloved end point, it all works out.
