So here we are, the most important Xbox One exclusive, and one that you shouldn't even have to consider buying, assuming you already own the console, of course. Just as 343 Industries took up the Halo mantle after Bungie's mass exodus from Microsoft after Halo: Reach, Gears Of War's biological parent, Epic Games, has long since left the series in the care of surrogate developer The Coalition. All we've seen of Gears 4 so far is a painfully-short gameplay segment shown off at E3, but we've already got a pretty good indication of how well-respected the franchise will be by The Coalition in the form of Gears Of War Ultimate Edition. Everything but a lazy port to cash-in on the growing trend of re-releases, remakes and HD versions, The Coalition gave Epic Games' original the TLC it deserved to justify a home on the Xbox One. Character models, lighting and Locust innards all received a makeover to bring Marcus and friends' first adventure up to modern-day standard. So if The Coalition can do that with a game that's almost 10 years old, just imagine what they can do with a brand new entry in the series built entirely from the ground up.
