10 Huge 2017 Video Game Rumours You're Not Supposed To Know

6. Michael Ironside Is Returning To Splinter Cell

One of the many notably disappointing things about the most recent Splinter Cell game was the absence of Sam Fisher's iconic voice. The gravelly baritone of Michael Ironside was replaced by Eric Johnson who, despite doing a solid enough job, never managed to bring the same gravity to the role in Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

The Splinter Cell series has not been heard from since, but rumours emerged recently that a new entry was in development and that Ironside would be reprising the role of Fisher. This was eventually mooted by a Ubisoft official, but this kind of thing is hardly uncommon for a studio when early stages of development are unofficially leaked.

Given that the original rumour was fairly detailed around Ironside's involvement with the studio and the schedule and location for the work taking place, don't be surprised if this one still turns out to be true. In fact, with Splinter Cell still notably absent from current generation of consoles and Ghost Recon: Wildlands due to be out of the way early in 2017, a Splinter Cell announcement would fit perfectly into the latter half of the year.
