10 Hugely Beloved PlayStation Franchises Sony Must Bring Back

2. Jak And Daxter

Jak and Daxter was a hugely popular series of platform games, set in a futuristic world with elements of utopia and dystopia. It was at its most fun when you were teaming up with your furry sidekick to infiltrate corrupt governments and living on society's edge. The games certainly had a serious edge to them. Probably the best game in the series, Jak 2, saw the main character battling with his own dark side. It was notable, too, for its rapid and often seamless transition between various gameplay modes; racing, platforming, shooting, sneaking, and more besides. The original trilogy was re-released on PS3 as the Jak and Daxter collection to strong reviews, with many critics surprised at how little the themes and stories had dated. A sequel would be well-received, particularly if it tackled more mature material. Naughty Dog helmed this alongside Crash Bandicoot, and they seem unwilling to go back to what they consider more childish games of their roots - but perhaps they're just thinking about it wrong. Explore the darkness, and retain the quality gameplay, and the series could find a whole new lease of life on the PS4.
