10 Hugely Beloved PlayStation Franchises Sony Must Bring Back

1. Shadow Of The Colossus

Team Ico's two epic games, Ico and Shadow Of The Colossus, were released as an updated package for the PS3 in 2011. It immediately became the top-selling game on Amazon in North America and Japan. Ico is a remarkable, hauntingly beautiful game, but Shadow Of The Colossus is an almost unparalleled epic in terms of its scope, ambition and atmosphere. You ride across a desolate land searching for colossi to take down. Each colossus is a level in itself, and has a weakness you must discover to defeat it. Then you rinse, and repeat. It's a strange, lonely, but incredible experience. A sequel wouldn't capture the innovation of the original, but there's no reason it couldn't recreate its atmosphere. A simple idea would be to make the colossi even larger, and the levels longer. Or change the location; have a colossus which dwarfs the world itself or floats in the sea like a large expansive island. It's not hard to imagine how the PS4 engine and Team Ico themselves could create an astonishing gaming experience. Hopefully they'll do that anyway with The Last Guardian, but as problems mount and the release continues to be one big delay, it's easy to doubt what sort of game that will end up being. If Sony announced a sequel to Shadow Of The Colossus, it would be epochal news and generate a buzz of anticipation that no other game would be able to match.
