10 Hugely Beloved PlayStation Franchises Sony Must Bring Back

9. Resistance

Resistance was one of the best shooters available in the early days of the PS3, and as the series went on the games got better and better. It had everything a shooter needs: super graphics, awesome enemies, and a range of well-designed weapons. Its story was involving, and its world was asking to be explored. Since the series ended in 2011, there's been one iffy follow-up on the PS Vita but precious little else. It's a great shame because Resistance's alternate history could easily give rise to a whole new series of games, and a more frightening, atmospheric take on the game possibly following an ordinary civilian during the war would work perfectly. It's unlikely that we'll see a sequel any time soon, as Insomniac have said there are no plans. But they also said that it could be handed to another developer. That could be just the shot in the arm the series needs, and a sequel would be a significant draw for the PS4 among its existing fans.
