10 Hugely Beloved PlayStation Franchises Sony Must Bring Back
8. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
There hasn't been a new Tony Hawk game since 2012's downloadable remastered title Pro Skater HD. It's a surprising state of affairs for a series which released a game a year from 1999 to 2010, and whose original games were some of the best on the first-generation consoles. Pro Skater HD was sensible to focus on remaking old levels from the classic games. But it was notable as much for what it left out as for what it included. Fans bemoaned a fully-realised multiplayer and challenge mode, and somewhere in the process of the remake the gameplay lost its quality and intuitive mechanisms to boot. The Skate series has possibly cornered the market on realistic skating titles, but a fully-realised Tony Hawk with arcade-style gameplay, creation mode and expansive levels to explore would be a huge seller - and a worthy successor to a series which deserves one. Fortunately, a sequel is currently being developed, though there hasn't been much news beyond an original announcement. Unfortunately for Sony it hasn't been confirmed as a PlayStation exclusive, but if it were and could recapture the style and feel of the originals, Tony Hawk would easily be a defining game in the console war.
